After pulling the front end off the rocks, I would have pulled the back end from the hitch up and backward with the wheels turned to the driver's side. Pulling from further back and higher up in the trees would drag the back end on the road while steering the front end back onto the road.

I had a 78 GMC Jimmy with a small block 400 in it four-wheel drive with 1636's tires that vehicle was virtually unstoppable, drove around Northern Michigan in 3 foot of water with no problem!

First if that remark, 'it's not a jeep" implies Jeeps cannot break parts, the guy is either drunk, has not idea what he is talking about or just really not intelligent in off-roading. Many Heepers carry a great supply of parts that can and sometimes break, as well as those who own Broncos, Tacos. etc. A broken tie rod is NOT hard to replace and get the vehicle moving....just make sure to get an alignment before a lot of highway driving. And if a Hummer hater, explain Tacos (aka Tacoma), Frontiers and others with independent front suspensions that also can keep up with Jeeps on any trail I have been on after seven years in Moab UT. Yes a solid front axle is nice, but it all comes down to the driver and in many cases the spotter.

One it's a Ford. Two, an old school one will not tear up on you and able to take a hit. Three, the Ecoboost engines are junk. Especially the four cylinders. Four, who in their right mind would want to put a scratch on a 40 to 70K ride?

i have a 70 high boy that i end up pulling all sorts of people out of the mud but i have dana 60/80 lockers with a 390 rust free clean body full trim with tool box on side best part is i only have 250 bucks in it . most rigs i pull out people have 1000's in them . also have a 79 short box cheyenne 4x4 full option truck with only 35,000 miles on it with Quadro traction 400/400 turbo which i got it for free i out do jeeps all the time with it but it not as good as my high boy

The truck recovery was clean and Gene worthy. That 'Snow-Cat was pretty neat too. It Should win awards.They worked hard on it. That rear hydraulic anchor itself was worth a prize.Too many have more Winch than weight, and an anchor gets the jobs done! Thanx for the vid.
